Here, we will review the Line App for Android and show you how to install and configure it.
Line is a multiplatform communication app which lets you exchange instant messages with your friends in the form of text, photos, videos, music, contacts, and location information. In addition to instant messages, you can also make free voice and video calls to other Line users. Currently, voice and video calls features are available only on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac.
Line is also a kind of a social network for smartphones and it has a unique and interesting feature called Line Stickers. The stickers and emoticons makes your chat experience more fun and lets you express a wide range of emotions. Many stickers are available for free, but if you want you can purchase more stickers.
The Timeline feature of Line lets you easily share text, photos, videos, stickers, and exchange stories with your friends. One more interesting feature of Line enables you to add official accounts of celebrities, brands, TV shows, popular artists, etc. as your friends, and get their latest news and coupons.
Update: Now, Line has launched an interesting new feature called Snap Movie using which you can create 10 seconds videos with cool background music and share it with your friends.
Note: One Line account cannot be used on multiple mobile devices such as phones and tablets. However, you can use the same Line account on a mobile device and multiple PCs.
Installing Line on Android
You can install line on your Android device from Google Play by visiting https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.naver.line.android.
Installing Line on Android using its APK file
Alternatively, you can install Line using its APK file. To download the APK file, you can use the APK downloader available at http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/?id=jp.naver.line.android . You should download the APK file on a laptop or desktop and then transfer it to your Android device using Bluetooth or USB.
After you have transferred the Line APK file to your Android device, tap on the file, and follow the instructions to install it.
Configuring Line on Android
When you start Line after installing it, you will see the screen as shown below. Tap on the New Users button. SMS verification window will be displayed.
SMS Verification
In the registration window, Line will ask you to select your country and to enter your phone number. After selecting your country and entering your phone number, tap on the NEXT button. Line will send a verification code to your phone number via SMS.
In the next step, enter the verification code which you received in the SMS, then tap on the NEXT button.
If you are using the phone number for the first time on Line, tap on the green button showing “Using this number for the first time?”. If you have used this number on some other mobile device for using Line app, tap on the other button. Remember that this will delete some information from your previous mobile device such as sticker sets and friends list.
Agree with Terms
If you agree with Line's Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy policy, tap on Agree with Terms and Verify.
Configure Adding Friends
In the next step, you can configure settings for addings friends in Line. The first option is Auto Add Friends. If you keep this checkbox enabled, Line will look for contacts like phone numbers and email addresses in your Android device. If it finds a contact associated with a Line account, it will add the contact as your friend in Line.
The second option is Allow Others to Add. If you keep this checkbox enabled, you will be added in the friends list of all Line users who have your phone number saved on their devices.
After you have completed the settings, scroll down and tap on the OK button.
Enter Name and Upload Profile picture
Now, enter your name, and if you want you can upload your profile photo. To upload your profile photo, tap on the profile photo plus icon and follow the instructions. Remember, the profile photo and the name are visible to other Line users.
Tap on Register.
Email Registration (optional)
If you want, you can register your email address with Line. Email registration is required if you want to access your Line account from Windows PC or Mac. Enter your email address and password and tap on Register now!. You will receive a verification code in your email that you will need to enter in the next step.
Enter the verification code and tap on Register. After your email address has been registered successfully, tap on the OK button.
Now, you can use Line on Android and PC.
